I bought Maddox a doll this Christmas.  It is a doll that has eyes, ears, and a body just like Maddox.  It is not an American Girl Doll.  Apparently that company doesn't recognize how beautiful kids are even if they carry the number one genetic condition in the world.  Many people when they saw this doll said it was ugly and funny looking, not knowing the doll had down syndrome.  It tore a little piece of my heart every time.

It was a test.

Just because this doll didn't have the perfect round blue eyes and the standard sized ears doesn't mean she wasn't beautiful. This doll has a round belly and shortened limbs with fingers and toes that are not perfectly straight.

But this doll, but the way, her name is Lucy. And my daughter are both perfect in every way.

(Someday, American Girl and the rest of the world will learn to find the same beauty as I have.)
